Spring Cleaning: Easter—A Fresh Start APRIL 1, 2018
He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Matthew 28:6 Recommended Reading: Psalm 16:9-11
After the death and burial of Jesus, His disciples were stunned, even dismayed. They had failed to watch with Jesus in prayer in Gethsemane and fled when soldiers appeared to arrest Him (Matthew 26:36-46, 56). And Peter had denied Him (Matthew 26:69-75). Besides that, they feared the Jews; they were hiding behind locked doors in Jerusalem (John 20:19). They had not yet processed Jesus’ own prior words about being resurrected from the dead (John 2:19-22). But then, in the midst of their dark despair, Jesus appeared to them, alive from the dead, and said, “Peace be with you” (John 20:19). His words meant, “Don’t be anxious. Don’t worry about what happened before. I am alive from the dead. Everything is new now; it’s time to begin again. It’s time to continue and complete the work the Father sent Me to do.” That’s what Easter means for us as well. Because Jesus has been raised from the dead, we can be born again to a new life in Him.As you contemplate spring cleaning this Easter, give thanks for the cleansing work of Christ in your life because He is risen.

Faith is a spiritual resurrection of the soul.
