Amazing Grace Outreach Church was founded August 20, 2009 by the guidance of the Holy Spirit leading Pastor Delgardo Linthicum.
Since that day we have had many improvements to the church building: the interior and exterior has been painted, the floors have been restored, the pews were restored, installation of window awnings, and an upper level bathroom donated by Patricia Cook and Harrison Clark. We have added a computer room, a pool room, two game rooms, and a play room with a nursery for our youth.
This vision was placed upon Pastor Linthicum's heart to plant the one and only outreach church in the state of Virginia, where we could concentrate on saving souls of the city. We felt the church as usual had gone on long enough and God had mandated him to preach relationship instead of religion. Also to go out to the highways and byways to compel them to come with block parties, door to door outreach throughout the community, coordinating GED programs and haircuts, and mentoring programs through a healthy church.
The ministries that have been birthed are: Women's Ministry, Men's Ministry, Food and Clothing ministry, Prayer and Praise Ministry, Prison Ministry, Youth Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Usher Ministry. Our first Sunday school class began in July 2010 taught by Rev. Derrick Darden.
Since conception of our outreach church, over two hundred fifty people have been led to Christ, twenty-eight people have received substance abuse treatment. Over three thousand people have benefited from the Food ministry. Numerous have benefited from the Clothing ministry. We have assisted thirty-three people who were homeless. The church has been involved in assisting over two hundred people with employment through job search and job development activities. We have also assisted two hundred individuals with restoration of their voting rights. We have helped twenty-three families and over six hundred inmates through our prison outreach ministry.
The Amazing Grace Church family has been instrumental in assisting the Jubilee Family Center with fundraising, in partnership with Rebuilding Together assisting the repairs of the exterior on the house next door. The church has partnered with White Rock Hill Neighborhood Center in providing free summer camps for the community children.
By the grace of God, In January 2010, a church was planted in Butner, NC inside a federal correctional facility. The church continues to grow. The third church plant is at James Crossing formerly known as Greenfield is Amazing Grace at Greenfield, the first service was conducted on December 2, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Glory be to God we will be one church in three locations continuing our outreach efforts through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
